We present our partner projects
reforestation and protected areas
La Gamba Tropical Station (Costa Rica)
The tropical station La Gamba is located in southern Costa Rica and offers biologists the opportunity to carry out longer research projects in the rainforest. The Botanical Institute of the University of Vienna, which is responsible for the La Gamba tropical station, regularly calls for donations together with its sister organization "Regenwald der Österreicher". Thanks to the numerous supporters, large areas of land could be bought. For the long-term protection of the areas, the areas were donated to the Piedras Blancas National Park. In addition to individual researchers and student groups, volunteers are also welcome to implement scientifically supported reforestation and reforestation projects.
The Generation Forest (Panama)
The German-Panamic cooperative offers an ecological and social form of impact investment. At 5 locations in the Colón and Darién areas, areas between 120 and 570 hectares will be reforested with native tropical wood and managed sustainably, so that biodiverse forests are created for the next generation and to protect the adjacent rainforest. In total, the sister organization Futuro Forestal has already reforested 791 hectares of rosewood, golden cedar, mahogany (...) and protected 161 hectares of existing forest. When buying landremains as an integral part of the fincas and thus ensures a healthy forest on which even jaguars have been sighted.
OneStudy by OroVerdeon behalf of the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation confirms that the biodiversity on the former pastureland fincas as well as the soil quality is increasing. As a green investment, an annual return of 4 to 5 percent is possible when buying shares, based on a conservative calculation of the increase in value. At the same time, CO₂ is bound naturally and the people of the region are offered a fairly paid job with further training. The Generation Forest has been certified with the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Climate and the Community and Biodiversity Standards (CCBS).
